PRESS RELEASE | LEONTEQ ENTERS NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH EMIRATES ISLAMIC FOR SHARI’A-COMPLIANT STRUCTURED PRODUCTS
Zurich, 11 June 2025 Leonteq announced today that it has initiated a new partnership with Emirates Islamic, one of the leading financial institutions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for the manufacturing and distribution of Shari’a-compliant structured products. Building on its strategic expansion into the Gulf region, Leonteq launched a Shari’a-compliant trust certificate issuance programme (the Programme) in 2022 with IBDAA Certificate Issuer Ltd. (IBDAA), a dedicated Islamic issuance entity as issuer of trust certificates. Amanie Advisors Ltd. (reputable Shari’a Advisory firm) have been appointed by Leonteq to provide advice on the Shari’a aspects of the Programme and the subsequent projects and partnerships involving IBDAA. As part of this new partnership, Emirates Islamic will now co-design certain trust certificates issued by IBDAA and distribute these products within their client network, while Leonteq will provide end-to-end services including issuance arrangement, Shari’a-compliant hedging, and lifecycle management. This partnership is a significant milestone for the Islamic structured product business. It combines Leonteq’s core strength in terms of investment solutions services, structuring capabilities and technology integration with Emirates Islamic’s innovative approach to transform the banking landscape, strong credit rating (A+ from Fitch) and extensive reach within the UAE wealth management market. This joint endeavour enables Emirates Islamic’s clients to access tailored investment solutions that were previously unavailable at such scale and convenience. These are facilitated through IBDAA, one of the first Islamic issuance entity capable of issuing a broad spectrum of payoffs across asset classes, with accessible investment thresholds enabled by its flexibility and advanced automation. Christian Spieler, CEO of Leonteq stated: “We are proud to partner with Emirates Islamic, a top tier institution in the Middle East. This collaboration will allow clients of Emirates Islamic to benefit from Leonteq’s longstanding expertise in white-labelling solutions and marks a milestone for Leonteq’s growth ambitions in the Middle East.” Farid AlMulla, CEO at Emirates Islamic, said: "Emirates Islamic is excited to partner with Leonteq to create structured investment solutions for our customers and the market. Over two decades, the bank has played a significant role in transforming the Islamic banking landscape. We have always endeavoured to offer Islamic solutions that make a difference in the lives of our customers and beyond. This new partnership will enable our clients, in particular, to benefit from an even bigger product universe that further enhances their investment choices and access to global markets.” Emirates Islamic, part of Emirates NBD Group, is a leading Islamic financial institution in the UAE. Established in 2004 as Emirates Islamic Bank, the bank has established itself as a major player in the highly competitive financial services sector in the UAE. Emirates Islamic offers a comprehensive range of Shari’a-compliant products and services across the retail, business and corporate banking spectrum with a network of 40 branches across the UAE.
